BIO
After holding a variety of jobs and operating several small businesses, Alfie Thompson finally realized what she wanted to be when she grew up and started writing. She's been addicted every since. Her first book was published under the pseudonym Val Daniels by Harlequin Romance in 1990. Besides traditional romances, she has written romantic suspense (Silhouette Shadows) and a longer contemporary for Silhouette Special Edition. Her 10 books have been published in 19 languages and 32 countries.
The two and a half million books sold have earned Alfie a reputation that reflects her Heartland upbringing. Her heartwarming stories earned Write Touch Reader's Awards two years in a row and reached as high as #8 on Ingram's most requested books list.
In addition to actually writing, Alfie has presented writing workshops from New York City to Hawaii. She served on the Board of Directors for the world's largest genre specific writer's organization (over 9500 members), the Romance Writers of America from 1989 to 1993. As the 10th annual conference coordinator (1990, San Francisco) she initiated the first ever RWA "Readers for Life" Literacy Autographing which has raised over $450,000 for literacy in the 16 years since its inception. She initiated and coordinated the first Regional RWA conference in 1997 with eleven Midwestern RWA chapters participating. She currently belongs to PASIC and the (KC) Midwest Romance Writers chapters of RWA.
Alfie grew up in south central Kansas, married the Prince Charming she met in college and had two children, who are grown and thinking about writing projects of their own. She resides near Kansas City with her husband, Dan, and their Molly dog.
